The first day of autumn often called fall (September equinox or autumnal equinox) is when the sun shines directly on the celestial equator passing from north to south and the length of day and night are almost the same. This is referred to as astronomical autumn or the September equinox.September 22, 2023
The first day of summer occurs when the sun is in its most northern position directly over the Tropic of Cancer. This is referred to as astronomical summer or the summer solstice. - By now, in our part of Virginia, the days are long, hot, and humid.
